Perry Dunbar and Allison Rooney, husband and wife, moved their boat from North Carolina, to the Occoquan River to enjoy during the pandemic of 2020.  The family enjoyed many wonderful days on the water enjoying great adventures. We originally through this would be temporary but now can’t imagine warm weather in the DC region without boating. We enjoyed sharing this new experience with friends and family that would go with us and enjoyed sharing this new to us boating community. This led us to form this business offering an easy and convenient way to allow others to share in these amazing experiences.

Perry Dunbar – Captain and Host

Perry brings over 30 years of boating experience to Dunbar Potomac Cruises. Growing up in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Perry spent countless days on the Pasquotank River, Little River, and Albermarle Sound. As a former executive in the Hospitality Industry, he and Ali have years of practice in cultivating unique and authentic guest experiences which they apply to cruising trips on the Potomac. Perry graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Hospitality Management and holds a USCG charter boat (OUPV) Captains license as well as a 59-Ton Master Inland Captains license.
